YOUNGIL LEE(Chairman of The Asian Contest of Architectural Rookie's Award)
"The Asian Contest of Architectural Rookies Award" judges and evaluates architectural works selected from Asian nations. The purpose of the competition is not only ranking the works best works. But also the relationship between understanding the cultural contexts and architecture draws attention. It is really good chance that we go though other culture, get to understand each other and share what architecture of Asia with their works. Also touching different works and different view of world is making good use of their experience. Both architecture of Asia improves if students in Asia share their works of this time with the experience, it brings fluidizing the entire Asia and activates the architecture of Asia. Ho chi Minh in Vietnam is host of the fourth contest in this year and thirty students who is from seventeen countries are participating. I would like it to be delightful and joyful.

Highest Award (SHINJINSEN2014)
Suzue Yuya (Osaka Institute of Technology)

●How did you find this contest?
Through this experience, I was deeply impressed with the fact "architecture is universal" - designing architecture has no national boundaries.
●— Has this experience brought a change in your attitude? If so, in what way?
This opportunity made me recognize that I thought about architecture only in a small world around me. However, from now on I will turn my eyes to a wider world and continue to learn architecture.

村越 勇人
Award for Excellence (SHINJINSEN2014)
Murakoshi Yuto (Nagoya Institute of Technology)
(Award for excellence in the Asian contest)

●How did you find this contest?
I am quite satisfied with this tension-filled experience that I cannot usually savor.
●What is the difference between Japan and other countries in the views on architecture?
I think that the difference between Japan and other countries is clear in "criticism". In Japan, we tend to design architecture after bringing up an issue. On the other hand, in other counties they have a positive view about the spaces they themselves have experienced and put more emphasis on their optimistic feelings that come form their pure curiosity.
朝日 啓仁
Top16 (SHINJINSEN2014)
Asahi Hiroto (Kyoto Institute of Technology)

●How did you find this contest?
This contest was a good experience for me.
●What is your impression of the differences in making a design sheet or an architectural model?
Some models made with a machine, such as a laser cutter, contrasted well with the other foreign students works. As for me, I made human models with drawing paper. And some also said that the use of japanese handmade skills suprised them.
